FFA dress-up days for Feb. 23rd - 27th.

Current forecasts indicate the possibility of large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornado activity reaching our area earlier. While not every location will experience severe weather, conditions during our regular dismissal window could become unsafe.
We will follow our established early dismissal procedures. All after-school activities, practices, and REACH are cancelled. This does not impact early dismissal tomorrow.

Happy National School Counseling Week! We celebrate our Guidance Team and the incredible impact they make every single day. We are also grateful for the team of mental health professionals who support this work every day, McKayla Turner and Katelyn Reese with City Connects, and Janet Daniels with Youth First. We are grateful for your commitment to helping every Laker grow and learn.

This person rarely gets a full lunch because students are constantly being sent her way, even during her break. And she never hesitates. She works incredibly hard and cares deeply about the students she serves. She has even used her own money to get little things for her office to make students feel more comfortable, and she is always willing to help wherever she’s needed.
She does so much for our students, our staff, and our community. From fixing all the boo-boos, to helping in the office, to volunteering her time coaching community sports, she consistently goes above and beyond. She is truly someone we couldn’t do it without.
Her door is a revolving door of Band-Aids, Tylenol, crackers, mints, Tums, and hugs. She is kind. She is gentle. And she makes a difference every single day.
It is my honor to recognize Kelsey Dieball as our next Pass the Oar Award recipient. Thank you for everything you do for our students and our school.

Our Quiz Bowl team traveled to Sullivan for the Area Competition and delivered an outstanding performance! After round-robin play, Shakamak B earned the 1st seed and Shakamak A earned the 2nd seed, setting up an all-Laker final in the single-elimination tournament.
The championship round came down to Shakamak A vs. Shakamak B, with Shakamak B pulling out a narrow victory in a hard-fought match.
WE ARE GOING TO STATE!

Due to ongoing weather conditions, MSD of Shakamak will be closed on Wednesday, January 28, and will operate as a Synchronous eLearning day. Please stay safe and warm.

We will operate as a SYNCHRONOUS eLearning day on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Please stay safe and warm.

UPDATE. Due to the continued impacts internet connectivity, Monday, January 26, will now be an ASYNCHRONOUS eLearning day. Teachers will adjust expectations accordingly and will communicate directly with students as needed.
We are still assessing conditions for Tuesday, January 27, and will communicate a decision as early as possible regarding synchronous or asynchronous instruction..

This is in addition to the previously announced synchronous eLearning day on Monday, January 26.
We will continue to take this day by day and will communicate any updates as early as possible. Please stay safe.
