About Us

Welcome to the M.S.D. of Shakamak website. Shakamak schools are located between Jasonville, Indiana and Shakamak State Park and have close ties with both the community and the park.  We take pride in our academic and extracurricular achievements with the understanding that academics are the cornerstone of our schools.  We endorse a culture of being a family where graduates embrace the motto, “Once a Laker, always a Laker.”

M.S.D. of Shakamak offers a wide variety of academic programs that support students and prepare them for college and the work force after graduation.  Shakamak High School offers a variety of advanced credit and dual credit courses to prepare students for college including AP art, calculus, chemistry, physics, and English.  Also, Shakamak High School offers tutoring, credit recovery, and is part of the Twin Rivers Vocational Cooperative with a wide variety of hands on vocational classes preparing students for the work force.  Our elementary offers a free afterschool program (REACH) for tutoring, STEM enrichment, and physical activity.  Our elementary also has a high ability program for our students. Finally, our schools are a one-to-one where every student gets free use of a chrome book to access curriculum and classes.

Our extracurricular activities and athletics are second to none.  These include outstanding elementary, junior high, and high school choir programs that have performed all over the country and an excellent high school band and dance squad.  We offer active clubs and organizations such as FFA, FCCLA, and BPA.  Also, Shakamak High School is an active member of the IHSAA and is part of the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conferences.  We offer ten sports for student participation.  We have had a long history of athletic accomplishments including 49 sectional, 19 regional, 8 semi-state, 6 state runners-up, and 2 state championship titles.  M.S.D. of Shakamak understands that education goes beyond the classroom and that extracurricular activities are at the core of teaching leadership, teamwork, and discipline.

The faculty and staff work closely with the students and parents to create close bonds with a common goal of providing the best educational experience for our students.  The support from our stakeholders, the dedication of our teachers, and the effort put forth by our students have created a family culture where we all share a common goal of high-quality education, achievement, and strong community.

I look forward to this school year, the challenges it presents, and the future accomplishments ahead.

Go Lakers!
