All Lakers, get ready to GO! It’s College GO! Spirit Week!
Our Digital Design students have been hard at work on an important project, helping preserve the military photographs that were displayed in our school hallway for many years.
Students have recorded the names and available information from each photograph and carefully created digital images of the military photos. Thanks to a Perkins Grant, the program was able to purchase a Foldio4 Foldable Photo Studio, which students are using to photograph and document these important pieces of Shakamak history.
Building on the work of the Shakamak Heritage & Recognition Committee, our Digital Design students are helping move the project forward. Last night, the students presented their ideas for the future Shakamak Military Wall of Honor to the School Board. The proposed project would combine the preserved photographs with new display panels and student-created features recognizing the branches of the United States Armed Forces.
Community donations would be greatly appreciated to help bring this vision to life. Funding and materials are needed for display panels, a 3D printer students can use to create representations of the military branches, printing the preserved photographs, paint and painting supplies.

We are proud of the care and dedication our students and committee members are bringing to this work, and we look forward to sharing the completed Shakamak Military Wall of Honor with our community.
Shakamak Jr Sr High students participated in the Choices Matter assembly today!
Students heard from an engaging speaker who shared a powerful personal story about a real-life tragedy involving traffic safety. They also participated in interactive activities, including driving simulators, impaired-vision goggles, and walk-the-line challenges.
The presentation encouraged students to think carefully about the choices they make each day, the direction they want their futures to take, and how their decisions can affect the lives of others—intentionally or otherwise.

We’re holding our sign up meeting next week and Paige’s music will be here to show instruments they have for rental. You can also bring any instrument you already own in for inspection or inquire about school-owned instruments that may be available.

📻 LAKER LIVE IS ON THE AIR!🎙️
We’re excited to introduce Laker Live, Shakamak’s new student-run online radio station!
The station officially went live on Friday and we’re just getting started. Laker Live gives our students the opportunity to step behind the microphone, and behind the scenes, to create, produce, and share content with our school and community.

This year, we are proud to share that internships have been offered to most of our seniors! The Technology Department is incredibly thankful to have the extra hands and fresh energy.
Pictured are two of our interns putting in the hard work replacing an LCD screen like the pros! 💻🔧 It is amazing to see our students gaining real-world, hands-on experience right here in our own building.
The future is bright, and we are so proud of these young people stepping up and making a difference. Stay tuned for more updates as our interns continue to learn and grow throughout the year!

If you would like to purchase insurance for your student’s Chromebook, please make sure to complete it by September 4, 2026, for $25.
The optional insurance provides coverage for accidental damage to the Chromebook during the school year.

Jackie joins us as a High School English teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education and brings experience in classroom instruction, student support, and school library and media center operations.
