We’re proud to celebrate Ms. Debbie Eccles, our preschool teacher, for being named WTWO’s Teacher of the Month!

Our school leaders show up every day supporting students, guiding staff, and navigating the many challenges that come with leading a school.
From the great moments with students to the challenges that come with the job, their impact is felt in every classroom, every hallway, and every opportunity created for our students.
Please join us in thanking our administrators for the leadership they provide to our schools and community. We are grateful for all that you do.

A group of our students recently visited Indiana State University to explore the opportunity to participate in the StartEd Up West Central competition next year. This experience introduces students to the world of entrepreneurship. Students learn how to identify a problem, develop a solution, and bring it to life. (It reminds me of Shark Tank, for high schoolers.)
And yes, no trip is complete without a stop for some good food!
Excited to see where this group takes it next.

This is a reminder that the City of Jasonville will be shutting off water service today beginning at 3:00 PM due to a water main repair.
A boil order will remain in effect through Friday, May 1.
We encourage students and staff to bring drinking water from home if possible. The school will also have safe drinking water available for anyone who needs it.

Dear Shakamak Families,
The City of Jasonville will be repairing a water main on Tuesday, April 28 beginning at 3:00 PM. As a result, there will be a temporary water shutoff followed by a boil order in effect through Friday, May 1. During this time, regular tap water will not be available for drinking.
The school will provide access to safe drinking water as needed, and drinking fountains will not be in use. We encourage all students to bring a water bottle from home each day to help ensure they stay hydrated. Our team is working to maintain a safe and smooth school day despite these temporary conditions, and we will communicate any additional updates if needed.

Shakamak had two students invited to compete in the Individual Player National Quiz Bowl Tournament. On April 11th, Wade Boyd and Hart Buell traveled to Chicago to compete with 300 of the best Quiz Bowl individuals from across the country. This is the first time that Shakamak has had individuals compete at this level. All questions were from the collegiate level and they were asked 408 questions throughout the day.
We are very proud of their efforts and their representation of Shakamak. Wade finished 175th and Hart finished 253rd. Hart & Wade will return to Chicago next weekend with the rest of the Quiz Bowl Team to compete in the Small School National Quiz Bowl Tournament. For the next tournament, Shakamak is identified as a VSS (Very Small School) and yet we will be there competing with the other schools from across the United States.

Today, our high school and 6th grade students took an important step in building real-world skills through the Safe Sitter course!
Students who signed up participated in hands-on learning and were proud to earn their certificates upon completion. They gained valuable knowledge in adult and infant CPR, AED use, choking response, and essential childcare and caregiving skills.
A special thank you to Ashley White, RN from Greene County General Hospital, for leading this impactful training and sharing her expertise with our students.
We are also grateful to City Connects and Greene County General Hospital for partnering with us to provide this meaningful opportunity. Experiences like this help prepare our students to be confident, capable, and ready to care for others.
