Playing a little catch-up on some great school events from this spring , and there may be a few more throwback posts coming soon!

In April, Shakamak students traveled to WestGate for the annual Crane Engineering Design Competition. Students worked in teams to code robots and navigate an obstacle course, putting their problem-solving and critical thinking skills to the test. Proud of our students for representing Shakamak so well!

Sometimes the biggest ideas start with one student simply noticing a need. Shakamak student, Elijah, saw students and families who could use a little extra support and decided to do something about it. What started as a simple “Helping Box” has grown into something much bigger, a reminder of what can happen when compassion, generosity, and community come together.

Today, the Helping Box is more than just a place to share items. It has become a symbol of students stepping up, people helping people, and Shakamak coming together to care for one another. We are proud of Elijah for turning an idea into action and for showing what leadership and kindness look like in real life. Take a moment to watch his interview and hear the story behind the Helping Box. 💙

At Shakamak, strong leadership is often found in the people who consistently show up, support others, and quietly do the work that keeps opportunities moving forward for students.

Today, it was an honor to “Pass the Oar” to Dylan in recognition of his dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to Shakamak.

Dylan’s work at Shakamak speaks volumes about his belief in our students, our programs, and this community. That commitment is evident every day in the way he leads, supports others, and works to strengthen opportunities for students both on and off the field.

Whether responding when challenges arise, helping behind the scenes, or ensuring programs are running well, Dylan brings professionalism, steadiness, and purpose to everything he does. His leadership is rooted not only in hard work, but also in the way he listens to others, values different perspectives, and makes people feel heard and supported.

Most importantly, Dylan consistently shows up for students in the moments that matter most — offering encouragement, guidance, and care that extends far beyond athletics or activities. That kind of leadership leaves a lasting impact.

Thank you, Dylan, for the example you set each day and for the heart you bring to serving Shakamak students and families.

At Shakamak, some of the greatest impacts come from the educators who consistently guide, encourage, and challenge students to grow — and today we are proud to recognize one of those individuals.

It was an honor to “Pass the Oar” to Stacy in recognition of her dedication, expertise, and unwavering support of Shakamak students.

Stacy goes far beyond teaching technical skills. She helps students learn how to manage complex projects, think critically, communicate effectively, and use technology in meaningful ways that prepare them for success beyond the classroom.

Just as importantly, Stacy provides a calm and steady presence for students. In moments of pressure and high expectations, she offers encouragement, reassurance, and support that allows students to grow in both confidence and independence.

The accomplishments of our BPA students are a reflection of the time, care, and intentional effort Stacy pours into them each day. Her commitment is creating opportunities that will have a lasting impact on students and their futures.

Thank you, Stacy, for all that you do for Shakamak students and for the example you set through your leadership and care.

At Shakamak, we are fortunate to have educators and leaders who go above and beyond for students each and every day — and today we are proud to recognize one of the very best.

It was an honor to “Pass the Oar” to Jessica in recognition of the positive impact she continues to make as our Career Coach.

Transitioning into a new role often comes with challenges, but Jessica has approached those challenges with creativity, determination, and a student-centered mindset. She consistently finds meaningful ways to connect with students, support their goals, and help them see opportunities for their future.

Jessica is not only an outstanding Career Coach for Shakamak — she is one of the finest career coaches in both our county and the entire region. Her knowledge, work ethic, and commitment to excellence set a strong example for those around her, and the pride she takes in her work is evident in the relationships she builds with students and the opportunities she helps create.

At Shakamak, we are grateful for staff members who step up, lead, and create opportunities for students — even outside of their primary roles.

Today, it was an honor to “Pass the Oar” to Haven Wonders in recognition of his initiative, dedication, and commitment to student opportunity through BPA.

Taking on the responsibility of continuing Shakamak’s BPA chapter required extra time, leadership, and flexibility, and Haven embraced that challenge with professionalism and purpose. Because of his efforts, students were able to participate in meaningful experiences that build confidence, independence, and real-world readiness.

The way our students represented Shakamak at the BPA conference reflects the environment Haven helped create — one rooted in preparation, responsibility, growth, and support.

Thank you, Haven, for investing in our students and helping ensure they continue to have opportunities to learn, lead, and succeed beyond the classroom. Your leadership is making a difference.

At Shakamak, we know that some of the most important leadership happens in the everyday moments — stepping in to help, encouraging a student, supporting coworkers, and making sure every child feels seen and valued.

Today, it was an honor to “Pass the Oar” to Chelsea Caddell in recognition of the leadership, care, and commitment she brings to our schools each day.

Chelsea consistently goes above and beyond for students and staff alike. She has a special ability to recognize the small victories, build students up, and help them believe in themselves. Her positive attitude, compassion, and dedication make a lasting impact on our school community.

Thank you, Chelsea, for the energy, patience, and heart you bring to Shakamak every single day. We are grateful for you and proud to celebrate your work.
