Principal Message
Hello Laker Family,
Shakamak Elementary is an outstanding school that provides our students with many opportunities. Along with our curriculum, we offer our students REACH (after school program), counseling services, enrichment and remediation opportunities as well as the opportunity to compete for our school on an athletic team.
Recently, I was named principal at Shakamak Elementary. I am excited to immerse myelf in the community and work with our students and families to provide a great educational experience.
Currently, I am in my 14th year of education. Previously, I’ve had the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in many areas of education including 2 years of experience as an assistant athletic director, 3 years as a principal designee, interim dean of students for a trimester, 8 years of elementary teaching, 5 years of secondary teaching, 13 years of coaching varsity basketball and 7 years of coaching varsity golf.
Teaching young minds is a task that cannot be taken lightly. It is full of frustrations, and responsibilities. However, it is a task that is also full of excitement, wonder and joy. At Shakamak, we strongly believe that all children are capable of learning, if they have the proper motivation and direction from their teachers, parents and guardians. Our staff offers a great deal of experience and uses various learning, motivation, behavior, and researched theories in order to relate to their students to push them to reach their full potential.
Education is an opportunity to make an impact in the lives of many people. Each day is an opportunity to make some type of impact in the life of a student. We thank you for your continued support and we will work daily to provide a rewarding experience for your child.
